Ingredients
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup honey
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tablespoons grated orange peel
- 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Directions
for Orange Bread
Cream shortening and continue creaming while
adding honey. Add egg and beat well, then add orange peel.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add
orange juice and stir in walnuts. Pour into a 9 X 5 X 3"
greased and wax-paper lined loaf pan. Bake at 325 degrees for
50 - 55 minutes or until done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before
removing Orange Bread from pan. After Orange Bread reaches
room termperature, wrap and store overnight to blend flavors and ease
for slicing.
